Almost 10 Years and I am back

Nier Soundtrack on PS3

I can remember a cold day in October when I first heard "Grandma." Of course, at the time, I didn't know what it was called (because I had the Japanese version of the soundtrack), but I can say that I fell in love with the entire soundtrack before even hearing the rest of it. Haunting vocal work by Emi Evans combines with equally haunting piano work to craft a theme of extreme sadness.
Emi Evans; who was brought on board to not only lend her angelic sweet voice to most of the tracks on the album, but wrote the lyrics in a made-up and completely enchanting language that she derived from Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and other languages.
Get ready for something new and completely different from a Square-Enix soundtrack. Be prepared for something good!
Let me start by spouting off a list of adjectives that describe what the NieR soundtrack is all about: instrumental, choral, vocal, atmospheric, live, dreamy, otherworldly, beautiful, melancholy, captivating, different. Hopefully I covered it well enough because words cannot describe how outstanding this soundtrack is.
If you are a fan of captivating vocal work, it is your DUTY to pick up the Nier Gestalt & Replicant Original Soundtrack, in fact, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up regardless of whether or not you’re into vocals.
This a soundtrack that doesn't come around very often. Each theme carries with it its own heart and soul. I, for one, have been in love with this soundtrack ever since I heard the first sample in October. This soundtrack will remain in my collection for many years to come.

Final Fantasy 13 on PS3

I bought Final Fantasy XIII the first day it was released and I have been waiting for this game for years. In this age, I have reached a point where excitement is a rare thing to have in my life. Still I owe Square Enix for giving me the reason to get excited. This game is magical, and outstanding. It's like reading a book, and instead you are living the book and controlling the characters in that book. People has given mixed reviews for this game because they expected something like Final Fantasy 7. I agree with them but yet I have to say this is a different, yet pleasant game. I enjoyed it and I can't seem to find a reason to hate it. Different is good. Why do we hate change?
Nothing lasts forever but the certainty of change.

Roger Waters : Amused to Death

While one can certainly claim 'the Wall', 'Momentary Lapse' and 'Division Bell' more commercially viable, no one who listens to 'Amused to Death' with an open mind can refute that the quality of Waters attempt beats them all hands down. In some ways, it even gives 'The Wall' a run for it's money.
Loosely based on a book by Neil Postman (Amusing Ourselves to Death), Waters album centers on his perception of humanity during the tumultuous transition from the 1980's era of flash through the Gulf War and ending firmly entrenched in the dismal depression that was the early 1990's.
I personally find it most unfortunate that people feel the need to rate this album based on their perception of Roger Waters and his battles with David Gilmour. A true rating on any record should only be based on the music, lyrics, and contents therein, not commentary of how they judge someone's actions outside of the piece they are rating.
'Amused to Death', like most of Waters work, is not something for the casual listener. If you get this simply to have some background music in your car or ipod while working out, you will never really 'get' what this is all about and you may well not like it. While it has catchy songs that CAN be listened to independently, 'Amused' is not a typical rock album. Unlike most pop albums, 'ATD' does not spoon feed the listener one hit after another, rather it requires someone to sit back and allow themselves to become immersed in the experience.
You will not like the record if you treat it like any other record. One day I bought the cd put it in the player, turned off the lights and tried to go to sleep. Q-Sound is astonishing and the first thing I noticed was that sounds from the album were actually tricking my brain into thinking they were happening in real life. I had never noticed it before and I got more interested so kept listening. Song after song and finally at the end I was wide-awake and completely converted.
By the end of the title track I finally understood that 'Amused to Death' is like an essay. It does not make sense to pull the staples out of a multi page essay and read whatever in any order, nor does ATD work well if only one or two songs are listened to at a time.
It requires a bit of effort. It requires one to allow themselves the time to listen to it, but also I can honestly say that if anybody who can appreciate Pink Floyd tried ATD in that way, they'd never look back!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Beethoven's Last Night
Trans-Siberian Orchestra is is a rock orchestra founded in 1996 by Savatage's members. This album is the third album and is something else altogether from their first two releases.
Across 22 tracks (73 minutes of music), TSO unfolds the harrowing story of Beethoven's last night on earth, including remembrances of his love and life, deals with the devil, and the saving grace of Fate. Like most of O'Neil's writing for TSO and Savatage, it's a tear-jerker and bound to leave you with a smile on your face.
The songwriting is volcanic, bombastic but widely varied; the pounding heavy metal that introduces Requiem (The Fifth) is interrupted by a ghostly children's choir, creating a goosebump-inducing shock. I got chills up my spine at least five times during the course of the album. The musical asides - little bits of the Moonlight Sonata and countless others by Beethoven and Mozart, polyharmonic choral sections, a children's choir (only very briefly, don't worry) -- make for a rich, multilayered repeat listen.
Think of it as the soundtrack to the best Broadway musical/rock opera that never was. If you like the genre, you'll love this.Download: http://www.filesonic.com/file/3934651375/Trans-Siberian_Orchestra_-_Beethovens_Last_Night.rar

Savatage

Savatage, is the most under-appreciated and under-rated band in the whole world. Music industry, is basically unfair. Is it their bad luck or is it just the name Savatage refuses any fame. This album; Dead winter dead is basically the best rock opera album and the instrumental Christmas Eve 12/24 was released in 1995 in this album, and guess what? It never got to the radio and never got Savatage the recognition they deserve. On the other hand, Christmas eve and other stories album by Trans-Siberian Orchestra band was released in 1996 and it has the same band members and the same Christmas Eve 12/24 instrumental and it sold millions and millions of copies and their concerts are always sold-out. And now, Savatage stand on hold waiting for their band members to find the inspiration to do a new album. I ask myself, Is it me or Life has not been fair anymore?
Check the album and tell me your comments please:
